An agoraphobic Broadway fan listens to a musical soundtrack in his dingy flat.
As the record plays, the characters burst into life and his home becomes the stage for 1920s musical comedy The Drowsy Chaperone. He watches as two lovers prepare for their wedding with the help of a doddering hostess, a tipsy chaperone, and gangsters disguised as pastry chefs. With original music and dance numbers, The Drowsy Chaperone is the perfect show-within-a-show.
